STANDARD
Mega Steel Mod 1 Pinions fit motors with 5mm
shaft diameter and drive main (Spur) gears with module 1
tooth spacing used in 1/8th scale cars & trucks as well as
larger helicopters. These Pinions are machined from very
hard steel and then heat treated to make them even tougher.
Pinion gears spin and engage on average 3 to 4 times as often
and the main drive gear and therefore wear at 3 to 4 times
as fast. Gears do a hard job and will wear out over time.
Mega Steel Mod 1 Pinions are designed to last longer than & be more
trouble free than the rest. Set Screw (grub screw) is
4X4mm with 2mm head. Gear face is .270" and the shaft is .300" to make mounting
easy. For family fun and sport driving, we recommend Using
Loctite # 620 Retaining Compound to mount gears to motor shaft.
For race drivers with the need for fast pinion change, make a
flat spot on motor shaft and use only set screw for attachment. |

LONG SHANK
Losi 8ight buggies and
trucks require a longer shank to keep motor clear of center
differential and reach the spur gear. Mega Steel Mod1 LS
pinions have a .270" gear face and .650" shank length for the
longer reach necessary when the motor is mounted at the opposite
end of the vehicle from the spur gear with reference to
the center differential. Two 4X4 mm set screws with 2mm head are used. Fit 5mm
motor shaft. |
Double Hard
Good pinions are heat treated making the outer .005" of
the material extra hard to increase wear ability. Mega Steel Mod 1 Pinions are
made from Mega hard steel so they are tougher to begin with. Then they are heat
treated to make them the most reliable and long lasting pinions in RC.

Uses
Use with plastic and nylon spur gears for very extended
pinion life and quiet operation. Use with Hard Steel Spur gears for
demanding performance in high power applications for extended pinion life.
Good for harsh environments and racing. For extra durability use with wide
face spur gears.
